I am a Principal Software Engineer focused on building robust, scalable systems that bridge the gap between complex backend architecture and practical business value. My work is driven by a desire to understand systems from first principles, whether that's optimizing distributed claims infrastructure or engineering applied AI tools to accelerate expert decision-making.

My career has been defined by tackling high-stakes environments. From the precise, mission-critical demands of aerospace ground software to cybersecurity research on mobile network vulnerabilities, I prioritize system reliability and data-driven design. I am currently focused on the practical application of retrieval-augmented generation and agentic workflows, aiming to turn specialized domain knowledge into actionable, automated intelligence.

Principal Software Engineer

Liberty Mutual Insurance · Remote

Progressed from Software Engineer to Principal Software Engineer through demonstrated ownership of enterprise-scale architecture, cross-team technical leadership, and delivery of high-impact systems. Lead architecture and delivery for distributed systems supporting Liberty Mutual's property claims organization, mentor engineers, and partner with architects and business stakeholders on technical strategy and cost tradeoffs.

Key Contributions
  • Architected and led development of the core backend service powering a customer self-scheduling platform for property inspections, coordinating across three engineering teams to replace a manual workflow serving hundreds of thousands of annual claims and generating an estimated $9M in annual savings.
  • Selected as a Cybersecurity Guardian, partnering with security teams to promote secure engineering practices and communicate cybersecurity guidance across development teams.
  • Architected a highly configurable rules engine that translated property claim details into adjuster skill requirements, turning loosely defined business policies into reusable decision logic for hundreds of thousands of annual claims. The platform was later adopted for additional workflow automation beyond claim skilling.
  • Led the retirement of a mission-critical third-party scheduling platform after its decommissioning was announced, coordinating with multiple engineering teams to eliminate a deeply embedded vendor dependency while improving scheduling flexibility for adjusters.
  • Leading development of a straight-through processing platform that automatically adjudicates and pays eligible property claims using the team's configurable rules engine, with an initial rollout targeting tens of thousands of claims annually and designed to scale across additional claim types.
  • Built a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) prototype using AWS S3, OpenSearch, and Python to support automated estimate review, and later expanded it into a multi-agent workflow using LangGraph to evaluate estimates across independent review criteria.

Graduate Research Assistant

Florida Institute for Cybersecurity Research (FICS), University of Florida

Conducted PhD-track security research within the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity Research (FICS), focusing on detecting IMSI-catchers, devices that impersonate cell towers to intercept traffic, beyond the 2G and 3G networks covered by prior work. Left the program to move into industry.

  • Conducted PhD research within the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity Research (FICS), investigating detection techniques for 4G/5G IMSI catchers after assuming ownership of the project from the original lead researcher.
  • Collaborated with researchers in Switzerland developing next-generation IMSI-catcher hardware to refine experimental methodology.

Embedded with contractor and NASA engineers to design, implement, and evaluate software for ground-based systems supporting the Space Launch System (SLS).

Mission Contributions
  • Awarded NASA OSTEM Intern of the Year
  • Designed and implemented a linting framework for functional tests, improving consistency and correctness across a mission-critical test suite.
  • Developed functional tests validating a core message-passing subsystem used throughout NASA's launch control software.
  • Produced documentation for poorly-documented legacy systems and mentored incoming interns on the codebase.
